I have 4 indoor dogs who shed terribly and this vacuum works great at picking up all their hair. I simply empty the catch container as needed while vacuuming, clean it up after each vacuum session and it's ready to go for the next time around. Just having some difficulty finding the filters for this vacuum. Have tried 2 Target stores but they don't carry them. Will probably have to order online from Dirt Devil -- but that's okay, as I do like this little VAC!

We have a golden retriever and our problem is his hairs on the carpet! Our "old" (3-year old) Bissell couldn't help us at all! It sucked probably 20% of the hairs, at most! So, we decided to try this one, and I'm really happy with it! It picks up ALL the hairs from the carpet, rugs and upholstery! It has 5 different attachments, easy to use and clean! Now we don't need to keep our dog outside just because he sheds!

I love this vacuum. I have three vacuum's and this is my favorite. (The other two are hoover). I have an 8 month old and black lab and laminate floors in my home with area rugs. This vacuum works great on all of it. It picks up all the dog hair and things my 8 month old drops on the floor. It cleans the laminate floors and carpet wonderfully. It has wonderful suction and is super easy to dump the canister and clean the filter. I love that it is lightweight and can easily be carried around when cleaning stairs and hard to reach areas. The canister holds ALOT of dirt/dust/debris too. I can vacuum the entire house twice before I have to dump it. WONDERFUL! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

We purchased the vacuum to clean the hardwood floors which it does a very good job, dispite what the last person wrote. It has good suction with easy adjustment on the handle. It does not tip over, and the dirt canister is easily dumped and clean out. The cord rewinds well but could be a bit longer. It is not heavy and easily carried around kitchen cabinets.
The rug attachment works off of the vacuum suction and is okay for throw rugs and not very good for wall-to-wall carpet (again, not what we bought it for). My only slightly negitive comments is the tools are a bit small and can fall off the holder which is on the extention tube.
I would recommend this vacuum to anyone with hardwood floors. It's definitly not a one star vacuum.

We needed a vacuum just for the ceramic tile in our home. I read the reviews on this product as well as reviews on several other vacuums and everyone who had this little Dirt Devil loved it so we decided to give it a try. Literally, it was one of the best investments we've ever made. We have two small dogs so there is a lot of shedding plus they pick up leaves, dried grass, etc. and bring it inside with them. This vacuum makes cleaning up after them sooooo easy!! The cord retracts great, there is a nice assortment of tools and it does not tip over as you pull it along. Can't say enough good stuff. The lower price had me a bit doubtful but it's a little work horse! You won't be sorry.

I had to give it a review since I love it so much after 2 years. Decided on it after several days of research and very happy I did. Phenominal suction, great for multiple pet household with hard floors, hard to reach places. The suction has not been lost at all (note: I keep it the filter clean and empty canister) Beater carpet brush works great on weaved rugs but not carpet rugs. Do NOT BUY if you plan on using it on carpet! However, for hard floors its a fantastic life saver!

Let me put it to you this way, it worked for about two seconds. I am returning this item to Target tomorrow. I plugged it in, it worked for about two seconds, and then it totally lost power. I tried a couple of different outlets, referred to the manual, and attempted a few other troubleshooting suggestions offered in the manual. I assume my vac has a defective power supply cord. This vacuum is just another example of how cheaply constructed products are today. I have no plans to buy dirt devil again in the future.

I bought this vacuum because of the positive reviews by people with dogs. Well, I have one dog and I will have to strongly DISAGREE! My home has mostly wood floors and a few area rugs. The suction isn't all that great and does a mediocre cleanup on the wood floors. As for use on rugs, this thing bad. My old [..]makes my carpet look clean and freshly vacuumed. This dirt devil only picks up surface debris on carpeting. Another negative is that the brush can't handle dog hair nor people hair for that matter. After only one use, the brush had tons of hair wrapped around it which was nearly impossible to remove because you can't disassemble the piece to get the hair out. I had to yank and cut out the hair. The canister is also heavy and does not maneuver easily. It tips over! The only positive about this canister vac is that it makes cleaning dust bunnies underneath beds easier, because of the super long hose. Other than that, I'd recommend looking into another canister brand if you are looking for something that cleans well. I'd give this vac zero stars if it were an option.

I had this vacuum before. The motor went up and I lost my receipt, so I could not return it. Needless to say, this really is a great vacuum on hardwood floors. Lots of power, and the small head fits great under furniture and low kitchen cabinets. I have 3 dogs and it is great with the pet hair and so easy and mess free to empty the filter. I ordered another one and although it was super quick shipping, I found that the retractable cord did not retract. So, I have ordered yet another one. I probably should give up on it, but of all the vacuums I have had, (and it is alot of them) I still love this vacuum the best. Lets hope for no problems with the next one.
